Chassis Metal

I’ve been working on a whole bunch of different projects this last week. But I managed to carve out a little time to get all the chassis metal for the source selector unit cut to size, fit to the chassis, and marked for drilling.

Now comes the tedious process of getting all the drilling done. Here’s everything laid out in the shop ready to go.

As part of this process, the four angled supports will need to be partially drilled, installed in the chassis, and then the corner holes in the top used as a template to mark for the threaded holes in the brackets. Then I’ll remove the brackets again and drill and tap the holes. This is so that the top plate is a simply removable cover to get at the tubes for replacement.

And, before I get to this, I have to replace about 100 feet of cedar fencing in the next couple of days. So the metal work will have to wait a bit. But I am making progress.

As always, questions and comments are welcome.

  1. It’s that time of year. Finally have longer sunny days for our fun projects and all those other “adult” projects that also waited for long sunny days are getting in the way!
I too have metal with layout markings just sitting on the bench….. waiting….
